Hello everyone. I have some sad news... We are possibly going to have to close down business and issue retainer refunds. I DID NOT want it to come down to this. ... As a small business in California with zero benefits (unemployment is NOT open to me nor the stimulus plan due to "employee" laws), I can not support my family when mandated to not work unless I get a 9-5. I am trying to remain positive but the outlook so far long term is showing me I need to activate on orders for the Navy. having lost 60 days of income already, not being able to tell what the future holds is difficult, there is no end date to our "Shelter in Place" order. The only way I can continue is if the State of California and local San Diego (also military bases) open back up or if I start selling Gift Certificates to use at a future date. Which would you like to see? Are you able to support a small business that is woman lead and veteran-owned by pre-purchasing sessions? Open to ideas! For all new parents that are unable to have a photographer at your birth or for a fresh 48 here are some tips to take pictures on your phone or with your own camera. -Try to take them during the day when there's lots of window light. Open the curtains or shutters all the way! -Turn off those hospital lights and only use window light only if you can (The different light temperatures may make it difficult if not).... - Position your baby or the person you're photographing facing the light or so the light is coming in from their side or down the face (never up the nose!) - The window should be to the side or to the back of who's ever taking the photos. - If you're standing with your back to the window holding baby, be careful that your body is not blocking the light. - Don’t take photos aiming up babies nose. Shoot down the bridge of the nose, from above or to the side AND ensure the light is also not going up the nose. - Remember details; don’t be afraid to get in close! Get detail shots of fingers, toes, lips, eyes, nose, ears, peach fuzz, and everything else. If you need more help my email is open! Feel free to email me and I'd love to help.
