My mom journey started about five years ago. My firstborn daughter was not having breastfeeding, and like most first-time moms, I had a hard time producing enough. I didn’t know what to do. With my second daughter, who is now a little over four months, I can proudly say we are four months going strong. I did my research on Milky Mama and saw nothing but amazing reviews! So I gave it a shot. Milky mama products saved my breastfeeding/pumping journey. I struggled ...with lip/tongue tie issues with baby, mastitis twice, and a hysterectomy recovery, all in her first ten weeks of life. I survived on milky mama brownies. Every time I feared a dip in my supply, I would eat an emergency brownie daily for a week, and I’d pick up where we left off. I’ve tried the cookies, lemonades, and other treats, and I have yet to be disappointed. I’m emotional even writing this because this was my last and only baby I’ve been able to feed, and I couldn’t be prouder of myself and my lil. Bringing you another Milky Mama Tip today all about....CRACKED NIPPLES! OUCH! Is the word that probably comes to your mind when you hear the phrase 'cracked nipples'. If you've been there, you know how painful this can be. Ease the pain and help heal your nipples with this tip:... After pumping/nursing, express a small amount of breastmilk and gently rub it onto the crack nipple area. Then, let your nipples air dry as much and as long as possible. If you experience frequent cracked nipples, contact us to speak to one of our Lactation Consultants to make sure baby has a good latch and positioning while feeding to help prevent cracked nipples. According to kellymom.com, antibiotics increase the risk of thrush and other yeast infections because they tend to kill off the good bacteria along with the bad. These good bacteria are what normally prevent an overgrowth of the yeast (candida) that is always present in our bodies. By taking probiotics, you replace some of the good bacteria in your digestive tract that are needed to prevent a yeast overgrowth. When looking for a probiotic, it may be helpful to know the fol...lowing information: The most common variety of probiotic is Lactobacillus acidophilus, but there are other formulations available. For baby, consider a variety that contains more Bifidobacteria than Lactobacillus. Dairy-free formulations are available. Many probiotics require refrigeration. Check the label for storage directions. You can also eat yogurt or other dairy products with live acidophilus cultures. Unsweetened is best, since sugar feeds the yeast. I am not a FTM. In fact, this is my third kid, and I am considered an older mom at 38. One would think I know all there is to know about bf, but that is so far from the truth.
