September is Suicide Prevention Month. Let’s all take a moment & think of those we have lost to suicide & their family & friends. Many of us have been impacted. The US suicide rate has increased 30% since 2005. Suicide is now the 10th-leading cause of death in the US. Mental health professionals are frequently called upon to identify those at highest risk and intervene appropriately & new research suggests we could be much better at each of those tasks. Everyone needs to break through the old stigma & speak up when you are concerned about someone & for yourself...please reach out! Please. Together we can help all those who suffer, often in silence.
