Tension headaches can arise from many different causes. Stress or strain at work or home or even the things we do every single day including staring at computer or phone screens for long periods or driving as part of a long commute may cause patients to hold their stress in their shoulders and back. With the unfortunate increase in life’s stressful nature, simply living with the normal day to day issues that arise is causing the incidence of tension headaches to continue to rise.

There are a few options for injection therapy for migraine headaches, though the principle two techniques utilize Botox or local anesthesia (lidocaine). In 2010 the FDA approved the use of Botox injection to prevent headaches in chronic migraine patients, and in these patients, Botox is often given as multiple injections around the neck and head. The recommended dosing distributes 155 units of Botox divided into 31 different sites, and Botox is routinely successfully used by neurologists and pain control physicians. https://bit.ly/2T7PzwY

Migraine is NOT a headache. A headache when it occurs is only one symptom of a migraine attack. An attack can occur with no headache. Sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, or vomiting are usually present. #migrainefact #migrainetreatment
Understanding the causes or triggers of a migraine attack can be a useful step in identifying a potential means of addressing the problem. Let us help you identify the cause of your migraines. Give us a call! #migraine #migrainetriggers

Occipital neuralgia refers to an inflammation of the occipital nerves, found in the back of the head and neck. There are three pairs of occipital nerves that commonly suffer from inflammation: the two Greater Occipital Nerves (GON) are found on each side of the upper neck at the base of the back of the scalp, the Third Occipital Nerves (TON) are found a few centimeters below the GON, and the Lesser Occipital Nerves (LON) are found on each side of the neck a few centimeters below the back of the ear. https://bit.ly/2wd0hcN

Migraine headache surgery can be a life-changing experience. Over 90% of patients who undergo surgery for their migraine headaches experience significant improvement in the frequency and/or symptoms of their headaches. 30% of patients experience a complete resolution of their symptoms following migraine headache surgery. If your symptoms persist to some degree, it is very likely that the intensity of your pain will be significantly decreased and that any medications that you take will work better, faster, and provide more complete relief. https://bit.ly/2ykSSZR

Patients with headache immediately following trauma should of course be evaluated by a physician or in the emergency room, but chronic headaches resulting from previous trauma are unfortunately quite common. Such headaches may arise following an episode of head or neck trauma and can be an unrelenting reminder of such traumatic events. https://bit.ly/2wVZGwN
