GROWING UP, I WANTED TO BE A a contemporary dancer. I remember as a teen, I'd spend my time at the studio pushing myself to the edge, rehearsing, training to become the best dancer I could and I thought that was the ultimate goal of life. I never dreamed of becoming a Hairstylist but I do remember the day it all became so clear to me; when I realized that this is actually what I was meant to do. It happened when I was working in the corporate world. I remember bei...ng in the office and thinking this isn't what I want to do, I wanted to be be creative, I wanted to leave an impact on women. I knew as a dancer I loved costume, playing a part and it hit me, what if I could leave an impact on women who lacked confidence, who wanted to have the hair they have always dreamed of. I remember my parents response..... "A HAIRSTYLIST?" I know they instantly thought "BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT" that song still plays in my head when I flash back to the day I told my parents. They had their hearts set on me being something bigger, something more successful and I remember thinking why can't a hairstylist be successful? Why are we unsuccessful. Flash forward to today, I know this was the right choice, my parents know it was the right choice and I am more successful than either of us thought possible. What sacrifice is worth the cost...... Today I had a potential client day "This isn't affordable for mothers who pay for child care and commute from San Francisco!" As a mother who has sacrificed more than I would ever like to admit, I found this to be a LIMITING BELIFE not of me, but of the way this mother sees herself.... What’s it’s REALLY like to be a mompreneur with a son who's a Type 1 Diabetic . Let me just say, I'm not one to share what my day to day life looks like because I don't want to come off as ungrateful or negative by any means. But I do want to shine light on what it really looks like to be a mompreneur managing a son with Type 1 Diabetesthe fear the guilt and the wreck that I can sometimes be. Social Media is a platform where you see what a person wants you to see. You of...ten don't get to see the hardships a person goes through especially if that person is an introvert like me. So what does a typical day look like... Bronz typically starts the day off in range, for those of you who don’t know in range is where is blood sugar levels are on target (80-150). It sounds easy right, but what most don’t know if how far from easy it is to keep a T1D in range. The consequences of a low BG can be scary, it could result in feeling nauseous, difficulty walking or seeing, feeling disoriented, seizures loose consciousness or be fatal. Having high BG can nausea, extreme thirst, unable to focus, blindness, heart disease, nerve damage, kidney failure and the list goes on. Now you understand the importance of keeping the BG range in target. Every morning we start by packing a lunch and LOT’s of snacks. Snacks are a life line for a T1D, you never know when somethings going to go sideways and you’re scrambling to find something to help raise his blood sugars! If you ever look through my purse you’re bound to find a Z-Bar, glucose pack or a juice box! When caring for a T1D you are playing pancreas all day long. You are giving insulin when he eats or his blood glucose goes high, and you are giving carbs and sugars when he goes low. You get a front row seat in seeing how the human body respond to stress, excitement, nerves, activity, and even exhaustion and 5 years later, it’s still baffling to me. More in comments

Define EXPENSIVE........ What would you define as expensive? Is it $100.... $800...... or maybe $2,000.... Each person looks at a dollar amount and decides what is expensive to them based on one thing..... VALUE When it comes to something we value the word expensive disappears and we begin to justify the price. Things we don't value we dismiss as too expensive or something we don't want. I personally do this all the time. I'll be online shopping adding all the items of clothing I want into my cart..... and then I see the total of $1,000 and I immediately exit out of the app. I'll start browsing something else.... in most cases it's shoes. Before you know it, I find a pair of amazing boots for $1,500, I throw them in the cart and BAMI click that purchase button WITHOUT any hesitation. WHY? Because Shoes hold more VALUE to me than clothes. I destroy my clothes at work, 99% of my clothes have color on them which means I only wear my clothes a few times before donating them to someone in need. Shoes on the other hand last me YEARS!
