We've created this page to keep updating everyone on the current work taking place in Gaza thanks to everyone's donations, from before the current inhumane assault on Gaza and currently. Israeli attacks continue in Gaza killing dozens of people, injuring more than one thousand, and destroying homes and infrastructure. Tens of thousands of people have been displaced. MECA’s staff and local partners in Gaza are on the ground responding to the most urgent needs of children and ...families. We have been working since the first day of the attacks to provide urgent relief. Please continue checking this page for updates on MECA’s emergency support for Gaza! And visit our blog for updates from our staff and partners on the situation in Gaza. "Know their Names" Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces. Visit the link to get to know them, they are not numbers, each represented an entire life stolen too soon. ... http://ow.ly/YGuS50EW8R7
Children are experiencing extensive trauma in occupied Gaza. And it's not the first time.
Palestinian youth started a cleanup operation named We will build up in cooperation with the Gaza Municipality, to remove the wreckage caused by Israeli air strikes.
Our hearts are heavy ... #Gaza_Under_Attack
Words of our colleague Wafaa el-Derawi following visits to our partners in Gaza: Today I walked the streets of Gaza for the first time after the announcement of a ceasefire. I spent nine hours slowly making my way from Beit Hanoun in the north to Rafah in the south. I cannot believe what I saw. It is horrible. Everything is devastating. It is a shock greater than my ability to absorb. I feel suffocated and I just want to cry. It is the heaviest day I have ever lived.... The scenes of devastation are unbelievable. I find myself involuntarily looking under the rubble looking for trapped children. I imagine that I am hearing the screams of children who are still asking for help from passersby. I think this sound, which I did not actually hear, will stay with me throughout my life. I left my house in the morning heading to visit our partners with high spirits. I felt that we had done our duty and played a good role in supporting the displaced and injured people during the attacks. Now on the evening of the same day, I feel that I need much more support than ever before. The destroyed building of Abu Al-Ouf does not leave my mind’s eye. Ayman abu Alouf is doctor who worked around the clock for an entire week and as soon as he returned home to check on his children, his house was bombed. He and his children were killed. Throughout the horrible eleven days of Israeli attacks, we had no time to grieve, to cry or to understand what is happening around us. We were just counting the people killed, looking shyly at their faces for the last time and witnessing the gradual death of children under rubble. We were witnessing the destruction of buildings and collapse of dreams. But we didn’t really take it all in. We kept focusing on what is in front of us and the work we have to do. We were holding on to life, doing our part to resist the situation through providing emergency support to displaced people and injured as well. But now, I cannot do more, it is time to stop and cry.
11 days of aggression left tremendous loss in souls and homes. These are your facts, now it’s your turn to spread awareness, boycott Israel and urge your country to hold it accountable, and support the reconstruction of Gaza whether the support was for the health sector, or educational sector, or development sector ... whatever it is, DO YOUR PART. Chances are, if you are from the U.S., your tax money supported this.
Healthy Meals for Children in Gaza Project UPDATE: Thanks to your generous donations, 400 families in Gaza received food parcels with lentils, beans, cheese, and chicken plus fresh produce and special Eid cookies! Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, all kindergartens are closed in Gaza. But with your support, MECA and our partners are making sure more than 2,000 children in Gaza are getting healthy, nutritious meals every day during Ramadan while they stay safe at home. Thank... you! The campaign with PaliRoots - still going and we're beyond blessed for all the support helping us make this work possible. The Paliroots community went above in beyond with donations and spreading the word! Much love and appreciation.
Apartheid in action, no child is spared.
One of our partners sent us this picture two days ago, this is from the aftermath of destroying the Wehdeh St. where 37 people (men, women, and children) were brutally killed in the middle of the night. We know that there is a ceasefire now, but the numbers of those murdered are still increasing as more and more is beyond uncovered from under the rubble. We still have a long way to go, we still have lots of families to stand by, we are an organization focused on children’s ...rights and well-being, and part of that supporting their families, right now Gaza needs us more than ever. Do not abandon it, and help us bring the people on their feet again so those who remained have a chance of a normal happy life. Visit our website, link in bio, on more info on how you can help. #GazaWillRise
15 years too young for his life to be forcefully taken by Israeli bullets ..
In addition to the fact that for the past two weeks the family members alongside supporters and activists sitting in as protest; have been met with vicious violence - even monstrous - by Israeli police and settlers. #saveSheikhJarrah # __
