November is a pivotal time in what has been a year filled with public health and climate change crises, a resurgence in the fight against systemic racism, and a... highly-charged election. The one consistent thing that 2020 has brought is change. Change can be a source of stress and also a source of hope. Learning to accept things as they are while also working toward growth can lead to better mental health and build feelings of hope. Follow along this month to try out some techniques to accept change and build hope, like distress tolerance, emotional regulation, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan is a type of therapy using the techniques above.
