It's no secret: the Navy has been growing over the years. And as we've grown, we've had Sailors want to 'stay Navy' at incredible retention rates. This has caus...ed some ratings to be overmanned (and one reason for low advancement quotas for some ratings). A balanced Navy is the end the goal - and so we've open up opportunities for eligible Sailors to submit requests for early separation, conversions to another rate or transfer to the Fleet Reserve. Are you in an overmanned rating? Talk to your career counselor about which option may be best for you. Details about each community's health can be found on the NPC website under the respective Enlisted Community Manager section. Find our if you're rating is eligible for the Enlisted Early Transition Program here: https://www.public.navy.mil//Nov%202020%20Quota%20Table.pdf

With CPO results coming out today we want to emphasize the importance of safety. This year is unique, but we can have a productive season while mitigating risk.... Exercise caution and follow all local, base, and CDC guidelines. Some have asked about the guidance and suggested that it is broad. It is not meant to completely restrict or confine the Mess, because we believe you should be able to tailor this season to your command and community. With a focus on Teaching to the Creed, the creative ways in which you sculpt leadership development past that is up to you. You are empowered to execute, and train your Sailors, while ensuring everyone is safe. Let’s get to it! Anchor up.

Your concerns have been heard. The Navy has now authorized a new and more recognizable rank tab for optional wear. Note: The camo version is still authorized f...or regular wear as is the new option. However, camo must be worn in tactical and training environments when camouflage protection is needed. NAVADMIN 292/20 SUBJ/NAVY UNIFORM POLICY UPDATE// RMKS/1. This NAVADMIN announces an update to the Navy uniform policy. Navy uniform policy updates directly support Sailor 2025 objectives to attract and retain the very best Sailors by finding greater flexibility in our policies and practices, including uniforms. Navy uniform policy updates are the result of Fleet feedback, command sponsored requests and direction from Navy leadership. This uniform policy update authorizes optional wear of the cold weather parka (CWP) rank insignia on Navy working uniform Type III (NWU Type III) components. Approval of this policy change is based on the feedback received from the Fleet via the rank insignia wear evaluation, question of the day video responses regarding insignia options and ongoing complaints regarding the limited visibility of the camouflage pattern NWU Type III rank insignia. 2. Alternate NWU Type III Rank Insignia. a. Effective immediately, the CWP black slip-on rank insignia is authorized for optional wear on the NWU Type III parka, black fleece liner and shirt for E-4 through O-10 personnel unless otherwise prescribed for tactical operations and training. When tactical operations or training requires complete camouflage wear, the NWU Type III camouflaged pattern rank insignia will be worn. (1) Description. The insignia consists of solid black fabric with color thread (gold, silver, scarlet) denoting the wearers rank. The back of the insignia is sewn together in the center to form a loop which facilitates placement on the NWU Type III rank tab. (2) Manner of wear. Slide the insignia right side up on the rank tab of the NWU Type III parka, black fleece liner and shirt rank tab. 3. Questions regarding this NAVADMIN should be addressed to Mr. Robert B. Carroll, Navy Uniform Matters and Emerging Issues Branch (OPNAV N13X), via e-mail at robert.b.carroll(at)navy.mil, CMDCM(SW/AW/IW/EXW) Marisol S. Dumlao, Deputy Head, OPNAV N13X, via e-mail at marisol.dumlao(at)navy.mil or ETC(SW) Ryan P. Cameron, OPNAV N13X, via e-mail at ryan.p.cameron(at)navy.mil. 4. Feedback and recommendations regarding uniform policy, uniform components and uniform availability are welcome and can be provided via MyNavy Portal at https://www.mnp.navy.mil/, select Professional Resources, U.S. Navy Uniforms and *Ask The Chiefs.* Feedback can also be provided via the MyNavy UNIFORMS App. 5. Retain this NAVADMIN until policy changes are incorporated in reference (a), superseded or cancelled, whichever occurs first. 6. Released by Vice Admiral John B. Nowell, Jr, N1.// BT

"This past year has been full of challenges and uncertainty but we faced them head on as a team... We have been challenged to confront competitors and aggress...ors in the maritime domain, a microscopic, ruthless and invisible enemy, and systemic injustice. At every turn our Sailors have demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to improving our Navy and our Nation. Happy Birthday, Navy! Continue to sail safe and take care of one another." #245NavyBDay

After an extensive 40-hour search, the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF), and the USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD 8) Amphibious Ready G...roup concluded their search and rescue operation for seven missing Marines and one Sailor, today. All eight service members are presumed deceased. 15th MEU and ARG leadership determined that there was little probability of a successful rescue given the circumstances of the incident. On Thursday, 15 Marines and one Sailor were participating in a routine training exercise off the coast of San Clemente Island, California, when their amphibious assault vehicle, took on water and sank. Of the 16 service members, eight Marines were rescued, one died and two others are in critical condition at a local hospital. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard helicopters, ships and watercraft searched more than 1,000 square nautical miles. Efforts have now turned to recovering the missing Marines and Sailor. Their names will be released 24-hours after notifying their next of kin. The incident is under investigation.
