Scrambled crosswalks are completed at the corners of Manhattan Ave. & Highland Ave. on Manhattan Beach Blvd! It’s important to think safety first and know ...when it’s your turn: PEDESTRIANS: Cross in all directions (diagonally included) on walking signal ONLY. DO NOT cross on green light. DRIVERS: Go on green light ONLY and watch for pedestrians when turning on red light. Sign up now to donate blood at the 10th Annual Mark Vasquez Memorial Blood Drive which will be held on Friday May 21, 2021, and Saturday May 22, 2021 from 10AM to 4PM at the Joslyn Center (1601 Valley Drive). Those interested in signing up to donate blood should visit www.redcrossblood.org and use the sponsor code MarkVasquez. Mark Vasquez joined Manhattan Beach Police Department in 2005 and worked in patrol until he was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer, Multiple Myelom...a, in 2007. Officer Vasquez’ battle against his cancer was valiant and at times, when he was able to return to work, he said he felt like Superman. His fellow officers quickly nicknamed Officer Vasquez Superman and held many fundraisers and events in support of their hero. However, the Manhattan Beach Police Department lost their Superman on May 15, 2011 which is also National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. Come join us at the annual blood drive - your donation could save a life! See more

This afternoon, The Manhattan Beach Police Department as well as members from the Manhattan Beach City Council and Manhattan Beach Human Resource Department, were selected to receive the Federal Patriot Award. This honor was due to the collaborative effort between MBPD and The City of Manhattan Beach for the overwhelming support of CSO Kate Anderson in her one year deployment to the Middle East as a Blackhawk MEDVAC pilot. This was truly an honor and we appreciate all those who attended to show their support. #manhattanbeachPD #manhattanbeach
