I am absolutely heartbroken to hear about the mass shooting in North Orange at an office building in my district. Though the full details have yet to be release...d, we know there were multiple lives including a child’s taken from this planet too soon. I mourn with their families and loved ones and pray for their solace. I was actually taking my daughter to a medical appointment just a few miles away earlier in the afternoon, so obviously the thought that we could have been in the wrong place at the wrong time has crossed my mind. This is the America we live in today. It’s an America where gun rights advocates ignore the plain text of the 2nd Amendment and insist that ANY reasonable regulation of firearms is an assault on their core freedoms. It’s an America where we have become so inured to the constant drumbeat of gun violence that we all just wearily accept the idea that any of us, at any time, for any reason, can be the victim of gun violence. Well, I for one refuse to just sit back and offer thoughts and prayers and no other solutions for the scourge of gun violence in our country. I will continue to push for measures to reduce gun violence in our country. Enough is enough.
