Meet Luib Health Center’s first Hilot Apprentice, Renita Samera. We are so pleased with Great Spirit sending out our sacred call to gather Filipino Healers, Artists and Artisans in San Diego who want to make our planet a more healthy, empowered, inspired, loving and compassionate one. Renita’s unique healing contributions to the world and for our Filipino community are in Death Doula Work, Death Positive Movement and End of Life Challenges. This all stems from her first hand ...experience as both a daughter and nurse, caring for both of her parents while they were in hospice care. By honoring her parents wishes to remain at home, she developed a newfound respect for the dying process. As a result of this experience she became aware of how important it is to honor loved ones' last moments on earth and to help them transition on. This can also be a healing and sacred time for the family and friends who are about to experience loss, if it is done properly and with honor. She believes End of Life is the ultimate milestone and everyone deserves the freedom to express their wants and desires for their own transition. She draws on experience as a Reiki Practitioner, California Licensed Vocational Nurse and holds a BA in Sociology from CSU Northridge. The tools and skills she gained from these personal life experiences, learning and re-membering the Filipino Indigenous Medicine all continue to assist her in her own health, healing and growth. Meditating has been an integral part of her daily routine as well as practicing Reiki regularly. Renita wishes to share her experiences in hopes that it will benefit others, bring a sense of peace to their lives and the lives around them.
