A year ago I went to the art exhibit The American Dream / El sueño americano at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The artist worked as a janitor at a border patrol (CBP) center and noticed all of the items that were confiscated from immigrants and thrown away. He decided to photograph the items and create a work of art to honor them and protest inhumane and cruel treatment. Here are some photos I took at the exhibit. It can be so difficult these days to keep a smile on your face (especially when hidden by a mask!) but for me a sense of humor keeps things in perspective. Even though we’re all going through hard times right now, give yourself permission to laugh every once in a while.
