Today marks the 50th anniversary of the #ChicanoMoratorium, when tens of thousands of Chicanos marched in East LA to protest against the Vietnam War. It was des...cribed as the largest Chicano uprising ever. Four people were killed, including Los Angeles Times reporter and civil rights activist Ruben Salazar. More than 150 were arrested. The #ChicanoMoratorium is a pivotal moment in Chicano history, yet remains widely untold in our state curriculum. It’s one example why California Latino Legislative Caucus members are urging California to pass Assemblymember Jose Medina’s #EthnicStudiesForAll bill #AB331 to honor the histories of our diverse communities.
