Today is Lhabab Duchen! One of the four great holy days in the Tibetan calendar, Lhabab Duchen marks the anniversary of Shakyamuni Buddha’s return to Earth after spending three months in the god realms teaching Dharma to his mother. Lord Buddha’s return was a time of rejoicing for his disciples and is one of the four main Buddhist festivals commemorating special events in the life of Shakyamuni Buddha. In the Tibetan tradition it’s a day for making prayers and practicing virtue as all merit created on this special day is multiplied 100 million times.

The Shambhala Journey and vision are always expansive and inclusive, and we embrace our interdependence and interconnectedness with other traditions throughout our community - and tomorrow we're being given a special public talk on Danza Azteca & Traditional Healing Practices of Mexico. Jesus Sanchez is member of the Aztec Dance community of Northern California, a branch of the traditional dance lineage of Danza Azteca de Tenochtitlan, Mexico City. As a dancer and cultural a...rtist, Jesus will be breaking down the epistemology of healing practices that are center to the traditional dance. The discussion will focus on Indigenous concepts of medicine, art, and the preservation of practices throughout varying histories of migration, resistance, and forging community.
