Do you know which California native plants are visible in this photo? We'll give you a native plant seed packet if you can guess either of these plants correctly! (Up to 5 seed packets available.) Hint: the answers are in the latest Native Plant Workshop on fall planting basics. The first person to guess BOTH plants correctly will win a potted native plant. So that we don't give away the answer, we'll message the winners directly. Good luck and happy planting!
Happy Electio Day! Let's go vote!
Check out these upcoming virtual workshops from Long Beach Recycles on reducing waste in the kitchen and how to recycle right in Long Beach!
What you plant in your yard and parkway can have huge benefits for our local ecosystem and your community! Native plants support local pollinators and save water, while trees provide habitat for birds and shade to combat urban heat. Find resources to plant trees (#TreeYourself) at www.longbeach.gov/treeyourself and for drought tolerant gardens at www.lblawntogarden.com
In this Native Plant Workshop we will share with you some of the native plants you can grow and begin planting this fall. We will talk annual wildflowers, purchasing native plants, and we will demonstrate a planting of mugwort up at Longview Point! We hope these basics will encourage you to incorporate natives into your landscaping or garden, and happy fall planting! For an upcoming local native plant sales, visit the City of Long Beach, El Dorado Nature Center and Regional Park for their "Reimagined" California Native Plant Sale November 3-21.
Repost from @cleanyourstoop! We’re not hosting cleanups for now but that doesn’t mean we can’t all pick up litter wherever we are! Thanks @cleanyourstoop for helping keep LB clean!
