The Laurel Canyon Land Trust has entered into a purchase and sale agreement to acquire and permanently preserve an environmentally significant parcel (approximately 9 acres) at 8516 Lookout Mountain in Laurel Canyon (APN 5567-004-014). The lot is adjacent to the 17-acre Let's Buy a Mountain parcel that was acquired in 2017 and provides valuable habitat for rare, threatened and endangered species such as our local Mountain Lion Population. The parcel is also home to an extensi...ve walnut woodland mapped by the National Park Service. The Land Trust has received a $1 million grant from the California Natural Resources Agency to acquire the parcel through the Environmental Enhancement and Mitigation Program ("EMMP"). But, there still are some out of pocket expenses with this acquisition and we need to raise $20,000 by May 7, 2021 to cover the initial deposit. Can you help us? We Did It! Thank You for Supporting the Crescent Drive Acquisition! Escrow has closed on this beautiful woodland property which will remain undeveloped for all to enjoy. We had 57 donations in total with an average donation amount of $785. Our donors have stepped up yet again in an effort to tackle climate change, save wildlife, preserve the natural environment, cut down on CO2 emissions and reduce overdevelopment. ... How does change happen? Change happens with US when we take positive, proactive steps to save our planet starting right here in Laurel Canyon. A message from Wonderland Principal Teer: Recently Wonderland Avenue Elementary has had damage done to our sponsorship banners. Someone has been defacing and tagging on banners. These school sponsors are local realtors, dentists and or a neighbor offering guitar lessons that advertise on our school fence. They provide funding for classes such as art and music. When banners are defaced we need to pay for a new banner to be placed on the fence and often lose sponsors that pro...vide thousands of dollars to aid the kids in our community. Spring has arrived in Laurel Canyon - including at the two lots we are buying along Crescent Drive. They are home to a beautiful native woodland. But - we still need to raise $5,203 by March 31st in order to close on these two parcels at 8993 and 9009 W. Crescent Drive in Laurel Canyon (APN 5563-002-021 and 5563-003-005).
