Many hands make light work....our first communal work days in seven months. We met in small groups over a two-day period, wearing masks and socially distancing, and we came pretty danged close to working miracles!
Usually we get to have a "big reveal" gathering for the harvesting of peanuts, but in these times, we'll share them here. Don't you love the way that these legumes--technically vegetables--grow?
Even as we end this week of smoky skies and hope for blue skies ahead, our Food Bank donations continue. Looking forward to our winter gardens!
Neither rain nor sleet nor snow nor a pandemic nor really, really bad air will stop an Eagle-Scout-to-be! Here's a shout-out to Jim Chen, who built, painted, and installed this beautiful bench for our gardeners--as well as enriching our Children's Garden area with this sensory wall and stepping stones today. Thanks, Jim!
Cheers to Micah for sharing this tromboncino moment in an image we're calling "Dreaming."
It's tromboncino harvest time in the garden! These weird and wonderful squash, when they're green, can be treated like zucchini; once they've turned that deep tan color, they're more like winter squash. We're looking for our gardeners to harvest, take a selfie, and email it to us to post....To read more about tromboncinos, check out this site: https://www.theorganicfarm.net/?cat=42
In spite of everything, the garden is still blooming! Stay safe and be well....and happy gardening, everyone.
