Congratulations to Margie and Sev for winning a dinner from Casa Orinda. Margie was one of close to 100 people who responded to our Member Survey. Thank you for taking the time to help us improve our services and we hope you enjoyed the Famous Casa Orinda Fried Chicken! Casa Orinda

Hi! If you appreciate Lamorinda Village's services for older adults in our community, please let our Assemblymember, Rebecca Bauer-Kahan know! Lamorinda Village is a non-profit organization that supports older adults in our community. We were one of the first organizations to motivate during this pandemic in support of seniors with free grocery shopping and prescription delivery (well over 900 free deliveries at this point). We connected isolated seniors with at least 4 free ...Zoom activities (Meditation, Chair Yoga, Coffee Conversations, Presentations, Happy Hours, Bake-Alongs) per week. For seniors who didn't have devices to connect, we offered them free devices and set them up with zoom to connect with us and their families. We have made over thousands of calls to seniors to check-in and make sure they are doing ok. This pandemic has been especially tough on seniors with the mortality rate being those primarily over 65 and loneliness causing other health issues. Lamorinda Village is doing our best to make sure older adults in our community come out of this safe, healthy, and connected. See more
Thank you Lamorinda Weekly for a nice article on how we are helping older adults in our community prepare for the upcoming fire season. https://www.lamorindaweekly.com//Lamorinda-Village-prepare
Please vote for Helpful Village. Their software enabled us to easily connect 400+ seniors with 250+ volunteers for over 1000 shopping services during this pandemic.
Lamorinda Village is uniquely set up for the challenges of combating social isolation with our Buddy Check-in calls, Village Conversations on Zoom, and our Chair Yoga and Meditation programs to help us stretch and be active allowing us to connect and relieve stress. Vic and Fran have been married 71 years! Since this pandemic, they have had to celebrate Vic's 98th birthday, Fran's 94th birthday and their wedding anniversary all in quarantine. My favorite thing about them is when Fran is talking, Vic looks at her like there is no one else in the world. Let's raise a toast to this sweet couple!
Our very own Suzy Pak was nominated for Hometown Hero. Thanks Christine Mason of Coldwell Banker for featuring her!
Roberto and Maria Alvarez del Blanco's fabulous feast for the eyes presentation on the "Passage of Our Lives," is now available on the Lamorinda Village YouTube Channel. See the sites and sounds of Beautiful Barcelona. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjW6UfBBVGI&t=2667s
This is Suzy. She just finished her 51st shopping trip for seniors. In actuality, she goes to multiple stores per "trip" so let's call this her 200th store visit since Shelter in Place. If that's not enough, she also delivers food to seniors on Fridays and she calls them all week long to make sure they are doing ok, don't need anything and are not lonely as everyone is trying to isolate. She is, without doubt, the heart of this community. Thank you Suzy for being so amazing. #hometownhero#diablofoods#volunteers#lamorindavillage#villagetovillagenetwork
