Even we veterinarians think that California has fewer parasites. This recent study of dog parks has blown that theory out of the water. Whipworms/ hookworms/ roundworms were all found in California Dog parks. Your dog can be protected against those parasites with monthly heartworm/parasite preventatives. Different drugs cover different parasites. Check in with your veterinarian about regular parasite control. Tick borne diseases are also on the uptick in Calif.
