A lot of people ask us why we test for antibodies. This is a helpful graph that really shows how we can use the information to figure out the timing of your infection. Since many patients with SARS-CoV-2 never develop symptoms or have mild symptoms, it is important as we go back to work to have baselines for higher risk patients. It’s true that pharyngeal swab tests can come with some mild discomfort, and patients are either intimidated by them or may have unique anatomy that doesn’t allow for sample collection via swab. Thankfully, COVID19 detection using saliva samples has been proven to be sensitive, consistent, (potentially even more so than the swab tests) - and comfortable too! We verbally walk each patient who comes to our test facility through the self-collection process over the phone, but f...or those wondering, the steps are about as straightforward as it gets: 1. Spit into tube 2. Twist cap onto tube 3. Hand it back to your tester 4. Yes that’s really it, now get back to quarantining! Hello all, we are starting our antibody testing now which I will have a better post on later. I just wanted to get this one up so that you could have more information on the company and what antibody testing is. This is very DETAILED information and part of our consult is to help explain this in more understandable terms. We are using the lab they discuss in this video. I hope it explains WHY we chose them based on their use of 4 antigens and our hope that this helps decrease the false negative rate of active infections.
