Wouldn't it be great to have an IKEA in the old JC Penny building? Typically IKEA stores are 200,000 to 450,000 sq feet with the average store being about 300,0...00 sq. feet, does anyone know the sq footage of the Penny building? Typically IKEA does not locate in downtown areas but will open their first downtown store soon in Manhattan and are planning 30 more in the next 2 years, with most of the downtown stores being smaller than the typical IKEA. There are about 2 million people in our 6 county marketplace, with Fresno being right in the center where people from the 6 counties travel for medical,shopping and culture. The closest IKEA is about 3 hours away and Fresno would be a natural location. So who the heck is in charge of courting new business to Fresno?
