Many thanks to musician Cormac Gannon and San Francisco filmaker Joey Yee, who collaborated with us to produce San Francisco's contribution to RTÉ St. Patrick's day tribute to Irish music and musicians. It was shown on the TheLate LateShow, and was a huge success, making Irish eyes smile (and mist up a bit, too). Check out Cormac's performance before the gorgeous Golden Gate Bridge, and Joey's expert cinematography as well as musicians bringing the best of Irish music around the world. It's really something. In our series, Irish in the West, we spotlight a member of our diaspora community currently living in one of the states we represent. Leslie Thompson sounds tired but happy. Pivoting, a stock phrase used to describe the process of adapting to the surprise of a pandemic, and the subsequent current public health crisis, is a term that doesn’t really capture the rigor of launching programs into virtual space, but the effort is apparent when Thompson speaks of the the work th...Continue reading

Our Speaker Series continues on Friday, 9 October at 9:00 am PST with Attorney General of the Navajo Nation, Doreen McPaul and Jason Ryan from the Irish Cultural and Learning Foundation in Phoenix, Arizona. REMINDER: This discussion takes place at 11.00 AM local time (7.00 PM in Ireland) on Thursday 1 October. Register here! https://bit.ly/30mgmZJ The Bay Area’s economic connections with Britain, Ireland and the European Union are deep and strong. A great many of the region’s largest and most prominent companies have significant operations in the UK, Ireland and across Europe, employ thousands of workers and engage in extensive trade. With less than 100 days until the U.K.’s de...parture from the European Union (BREXIT), much progress is still needed for both sides to agree to a free trade agreement. Recent actions by the U.K. are also raising concerns about the Withdrawal Agreement which was signed by both parties last year. We are pleased to support the latest installment of the Bay Area Council’s Impact webinar series. The council is going to examine the significant implications of the continuing negotiations and what it all means for Bay Area companies and their partnerships in Ireland, the UK and across the EU. The speakers will include Dan Mulhall, Ambassador of Ireland to the United States Embassy & Consulates of Ireland USA, Conall McDevitt, CEO of Hume Brophy and Dr. Sean Randolph, Senior Director of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute.
