The 5th Annual Inyo County SAR & CHP Inland Division Air Operations Search and Rescue Training was held this past weekend in Bishop, CA. Inyo SAR and CHP Air Operations has a long history of working together to provide search and rescue services to the most rugged and sparsely populated area in California. This dedicated group of volunteers participated in two full days of external load/hoist operations training that will better equip them to respond to the over 50 emergency calls received annually. On Sunday, 10/25/2020, H-82 responded to an off-road collision with injuries at the Johnson Valley OHV Area. H-82 landed and, with the help of San Bernardino County Fire, treated and transported the injured victim to a local trauma center. Air search and rescue and advanced life support medivac are services the California Highway Patrol provides throughout the state. On 8/20/2020, at 2052 hours, H-82 responded to assist a traffic collision with major injuries involving a motorcycle on Hwy 138 and Hwy 173 near Hesperia, CA. On 08/15/2020, at 1130 hours, H-82 responded to assist multiple hikers, suffering heat related illnesses, near Deep Creek Hot Springs in the San Bernardino National Forrest. With the help of @sanbernardinocountyfire, all four were airlifted to waiting medical crews. Two of the hikers were turned over to AMR and transported by ground ambulance to local hospitals and two of the hikers were released. As a reminder, warnings issued from the @nws (National Weather Service) ...need to be taken seriously. Today’s *WARNING* The National Weather Service has issued an EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING for Southwestern California until 9PM PDT Monday. Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. H-82 and CHP-Victorville responded to a roll-over traffic collision with major injuries near Oro Grande, CA. The vehicle came to rest on railroad tracks with the victim trapped inside. With assistance from San Bernardino County Fire Department, BNSF, and AMR the patient was extricated and transported to a local trauma center. H-80 was requested for a search and rescue near Hell’s Gate in @deathvalleynps. A lost hiker with heat related injuries contacted @nationalparkservice for assistance. Prior to H-80’s arrival, rangers located the victim and rendered aid. Due to the nature of his injuries the hiker was air lifted to a local hospital. Great work by all agencies involved.
