SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27 IS THE FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING This is a solemnity with particular importance for the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest as it is the institute's titular feast day. A plenary indulgence can be gained under the usual conditions by assisting at Mass and reciting the Act of Dedication of the Human Race to Jesus Christ the King on this day at an institute apostolate. A special collection will be taken to support the Institute’s International Seminary in Gricigliano, Italy. Your generosity is truly appreciated and always remembered by our canons and seminarians.

ALL SAINTS TRIDUUM + FOR THE CHURCH TRIUMPHANT (IN HEAVEN), + THE CHURCH SUFFERING (THE POOR SOULS IN PURGATORY), + AND THE ELECTION... During this time of change and uncertainty with moving indoors for Mass and the Presidential election around the corner, we decided it would be a great time to come together for prayer and festivities. We will have a triduum of Masses, and events beginning on All Saints Day, Masses and All Night Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament starting on All Souls Day, and concluding on Election Day. The intentions of this triduum will be thanksgiving for having indoor Mass and for the upcoming election. Please join us for as much of the scheduled events as you are able whether by physical presence or via our YouTube channel’s livestream. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1 ALL SAINTS DAY 8 am, 9:30 am, 11 am: Sunday Masses 5 pm: Litany of Saints and Prayer for America 5:15 pm: Trunk or Treat* *Trunk-or-Treat like trick-or-treating but from car trunk to car trunk instead of house to house will be conducted in the parking lot behind the shopping mall of our new Mass location. Sunday, October 25, 2020 is the Feast of Christ the King: Therefore by Our Apostolic Authority We institute the Feast of the Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ to be observed yearly throughout the whole world on the last Sunday of the month of October the Sunday, that is, which immediately precedes the Feast of All Saints. We further ordain that the dedication of mankind to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which Our predecessor of saintly memory, Pope Pius X, commanded to be rene...wed yearly, be made annually on that day. Pope Pius XI, Encyclical Quas primas 28, 11 December 1925 The Gospel is from John 18: 33-37: At that time, Pilate said to Jesus: Are you the King of the Jews? Jesus answered, Do you say this of your own accord, or did others say it to you about Me? Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have handed You over to me; what have You done? Jesus answered, My kingship is not of this world; if My kingship were of this world, My servants would fight, that I might not be handed over to the Jews; but My kingship is not from the world. Pilate said to Him, So You are a king? Jesus answered, You say that I am a King. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice. + Christus Vincit + Christus Regnat + Christus Imperat +

Prayer Before Meditation I place myself in the presence of him whose Incarnate Presence I am before I place myself there. I adore you O my Savior, present here as God and man, in soul and body, in true flesh and blood.... I acknowledge and confess that I kneel before thy Sacred Humanity, which was conceived in Mary’s womb, and lay in Mary’s bosom, which grew up to man's estate, and by the Sea of Galilee called the Twelve, wrought miracles, and spoke words of wisdom and peace, which in due season hung in the Cross, lay in the tomb, rose from the dead, and now reigns in heaven. I praise, and bless, and give myself wholly to him, who is the true Bread of my soul and everlasting joy. ~St. John Henry Newman

Gospel of the Day in English and Latin (Traditional Calendar) Image: St. Teresa of Jesus, Founder Statue by Filippo Della Valle, 1754, St. Peter's Basilica, Rome, Italy. Text on Statue Pedestal - S. TERESIA SPIRIT(ualis) MATER / ET FUNDATRIX NOVAE REFORMAT(ionis) ORDINIS / DISCALC(eatorum) B(eatae) M(ariae) DE MONTE CARMELO [St. Teresa Spiritual Mother and Founder of the New Reformed Discalced Order of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel]... October 15: St. Teresa of Jesus, Virgin XV Octobris: S. Teresiæ Virginis Gospel Matt 25:1-13 In that time Jesus said to the people: Then shall the kingdom of heaven be like to ten virgins, who taking their lamps went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride. And five of them were foolish, and five wise. But the five foolish, having taken their lamps, did not take oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with the lamps. And the bridegroom tarrying, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made: Behold the bridegroom cometh, go ye forth to meet him. Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise: Give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out. The wise answered, saying: Lest perhaps there be not enough for us and for you, go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. Now whilst they went to buy, the bridegroom came: and they that were ready, went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut. But at last come also the other virgins, saying: Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answering said: Amen I say to you, I know you not. Watch ye therefore, because you know not the day nor the hour. Evangelium Matt 25:1-13 In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis parábolam hanc: Simile erit regnum cœlórum decem virgínibus: quæ, accipiéntes lámpades suas, exiérunt óbviam sponso et sponsæ. At ille respóndens, ait: Amen, dico vobis, néscio vos. Vigiláte ítaque, quia néscitis diem neque horam.

A most Blessed Feast of St. Theresa of Avila, Doctor of the Church, founder of the Discalced Carmelites, beloved friend of St. John of the Cross, and special patroness of the Institute of Christ the King. Let nothing disturb you, Let nothing frighten you, All things are passing;... God only is changeless. Patience gains all things. Who has God wants nothing. God alone suffices. ~St. Theresa of Avila See more

OCTOBER 13: ST. EDWARD THE CONFESSOR (in the traditional calendar) St. Edward the Confessor, one of the last-Anglo Saxon kings of England, who died in 1066, is often portrayed holding a ring, as he is in this icon that hangs at his shrine in Westminster Abbey, London, England.... The Golden Legend tells the story of how Edward gave his ring away to St. John the Evangelist, and got it back again. St. Edward had a special devotion to St. John Evangelist. One day the king was at the consecration of a church dedicated to the saint, and St. John in the likeness of a pilgrim asked him for alms, in the name of St. John. Because the king had nothing else to give for alms at the time and would not refuse a request made in the name of the saint to whom he was so devoted, he took his ring off his finger and gave it to the pilgrim. Some time later St. John appeared in the guise of an old man to two pilgrims from England in the Holy Land. He gave them the ring, and he told them to bear it to their king and to greet him well in his name, and to tell the king that when he had given the ring to a pilgrim he had given it to St. John. St. John also told them to convey the message that the king should get ready to leave this world. The pilgrims were taken over by a heavy sleep and woke up in a sheep field in England. On Christmas day, they delivered the ring to the king with the warning. And on the vigil of the Epiphany, he died and was buried in the Abbey of Westminster by London where is yet to this day the same ring. On October 13, 1163, long after the Golden Legend was written, Edward's coffin was opened, and he was found to be wearing the pilgrim's ring, which was taken off his finger and deposited with the Abbey relics. All the relics unfortunately disappeared at the dissolution of the monastery in 1540 by King Henry VIII. Westminster Abbey where St. Edward's shrine is located is now held by the Anglican denomination founded by Henry VIII.

CHANT IN TIMES OF PLAGUE "O Glorious Star of the Sea, preserve us from pestilence." Coronavirus is still making many sicken and die and disrupting our lives in many devastating ways. Here are the words and the score to "Stella Caeli Exstirpavit"a hymn to Mary against pestilence composed by the Sisters of the Monastery of Santa Clara in Coimbra, Portugal, during the plague in the early 14th century. We are praying it at the oratory after Masses. You can listen to it here at YouTube and sing or pray along:

No one should fear to undertake any task in the name of our Saviour, if it is just and if the intention is purely for His holy service. ~Christopher Columbus
