November 29th Temporary Closing: On November 28, the county of Santa Clara issued revisions to the Health Officers Mandatory Directives for all residents and businesses within the county due to the steeply rising Covid cases and hospitalizations. In accordance with these revised Mandatory Directives, the Ice Center of Cupertino and all ice rinks will close temporarily at the end of business this evening, November 29th. As it stands now, these revised Mandatory Directives are... in effect until at least December 21. We plan to resume programming as soon as possible once the revised Mandatory Directives are lifted. As always, we will be keeping up to date on local, county and state guidelines as they evolve to determine when we are permitted to resume on-ice activities. ICE CENTER OF CUPERTINO COVID-19 UPDATE At long last, some good news. The rink will reopen for limited travel youth hockey classes beginning on October 18, and for Skating School, Rookie League hockey and Little Hockey Basic Training (LHBT) hockey on November 5. We will be posting more information on the November 5 opening in a few days. In addition to the CDC, State of California and County of Santa Clara mandates for available hand sanitizer and wipes, we want you to know t...hat we have installed two whole rink air scrubber systems that are well beyond anything that is currently mandated. We have posted information on how these systems work here. They are called a Global Plasma GPS Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization system and V-MAX High Intensity UV Air Disinfection system. Face coverings will be mandatory for everyone entering the rink, and must remain on at all times, including while on the ice. There is also quite a long list of Rink Rules that are mandated items from either the CDC, the State of California or the County of Santa Clara. All payments, registrations and waiver agreement/signing must be done electronically. We cannot do any in-person transactions. Due to strict occupancy restrictions, only skaters may enter the ice rink. We have included a one-page document on web site, along with the Rink Rules and face covering notice. Every time anyone enters the Ice Center, they will be asked a series of questions to satisfy our health screening requirement. We understand this will be repetitive, having to answer the same questions every time you enter the building, but this is also a mandate. These questions are also posted on our web site. April 14, 2020 We wanted to give you an update on what is happening at the Ice Center of Cupertino. We continue to be under a state and county order to remain closed, which currently is scheduled to end on May 3. As you may know, the local school districts have extended the closure period until the end of the school year; we fully expect the order for all non-essential businesses to remain closed will last at least that long, if not longer.
