IHWAMUN ICE CREAM NOTICE Dear Ihwamun Guest, In case you haven’t noticed yet - our shop is closed for business.... Ihwamun Ice Cream first opened its doors to the public on June 3, 2016 and the last day customers were served at Ihwamun Ice Cream was on November 17, 2018. Ihwamun was in operation for a total of 898 days. With Ihwamun’s lease being up next month, I’ve decided not to renew the lease. Perhaps Ihwamun Ice Cream was not good enough to survive in a competitive marketplace, or perhaps the location I decided upon was just not ideal. Maybe it’s some combination of the two. If you still want our ice cream, then you will be pleased to know that Ihwamun Ice Cream scoops will still be available from our partners at Holy Roly, with locations in both Koreatown LA and Westfield Santa Anita in Arcadia. I’m talking to a few people now who are interested in helping open an Ihwamun Ice Cream elsewhere in Los Angeles, so we may re-open in 2019, but I cannot guarantee anything. In the event Ihwamun Ice Cream never reopens its doors anywhere, I want to thank our guests for their support. Without your support, we’d never have lasted to the end of our lease. I also want to thank all the staff members we’ve had since we opened, including our ice cream maker Miguel, who will continue to make Ihwamun ice cream to be served at Holy Roly. I also want to thank Mary, who was with Ihwamun since the near beginning and all the way until the end. Also thanks to Gershom for handling much of the administrative stuff at Ihwamun. I also want to thank my friend and business partner Deb Kim for sticking it out through all the tough periods we had at Ihwamun, from the initial setup all the way to the very end. That being said, I genuinely do believe that we will open again.
