The Giving Spirit, an annual feature in The Record for nearly two decades, focuses on local nonprofit groups and other agencies that help those in need in our community. Each year they ask nonprofit leaders, like us, to tell the story of their agencies’ work in their own words: https://www.recordnet.com//giving-spirit-stock/6347633002/

#LifeAtHospiceSJ: Meet Home Health Aid, Joy. Not only does her duties include a combination of light housekeeping and personal hygiene duties, including bathing, dressing, feeding, hair care and oral care for patients, she educates family members and other caregivers on patient care so that the families will feel comfortable providing day to day care to the patient between home health aide visits.

Volunteers are an integral part of our hospice team. Veteran volunteers are paired with a patient who is a veteran or has a military background. Similar backgrounds and shared experiences allow for deeper connections between the patient and volunteer. The Veteran to Veteran Program is a great way for our veteran volunteers to connect with their veteran patients. Thank you to Cyndy Green, Guy Mallery, Gil Garcia, Steve Davis, Benjamin Shipley, James Vordesrasse, Leonard Ostrom, Marvin Miller, and Jenny Miller. We appreciate your hard work, time, and dedication for making this video to honor our Veterans.
