As parents we typically have certain punishments that we give our children when they need correction. What if your child is God though? I’m referring to Mary and Joseph. What was it like for them when they thought they needed to correct Jesus? Merry Christmas! I have seen your salvation, which you have prepared for all people. He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel! (Luke 2:30-32) On Sunday, we will continue to celebrate Christmas and will study Jesus' Presentation and Dedication in the Temple. Mary and Joseph, who both said Yes to God, continue to demonstrate their faithfulness by taking the Baby Jesus to the Temple to dedicate Him to God. They will hear the pro...phecy of Simeon and Anna regarding Jesus, who is the light of God’s revelation and the source of salvation. Let us commit to being faithful like Mary and Joseph. God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way. Matthew 5:11-12 The-Beatitudes.jpg... Have you realized that life is short, and this earth is not our permanent home? For me it was around age 3 when I realized both these things. While we may thoroughly enjoy life, or not, our true hope lies not here in the world but with God who is in heaven. Our journey does not end while we live on this earth, nor is our life ever accomplished until we meet our Maker. While it is always painful to lose a loved one it is nevertheless a joyful thought to look forward to seeing every saint again in paradise. Come join us this Sunday for a special service of remembrance for all the saints who have gone before us. You will have an opportunity to light a candle for those who have departed recently. On Sunday, we will study 1 Thessalonians, a letter of encouragement and love written by the Apostle Paul. The church in Thessalonica was subjected to persecution yet they kept the faith. Paul experienced this persecution when he founded this church. He writes to the Thessalonians to encourage them to keep the faith despite the hardships they encounter. In the midst of these challenge times, may we keep the faith like the Thessalonians. The Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a king who prepared a great wedding feast for his son. When the banquet was ready, he sent his servants to notify those who were invited. But they all refused to come! Matthew 22:2-3 Matthew 22.jpg... The music starts, everyone stands, and the beautiful young bride is brought forward to the altar. There her bridegroom awaits her. She has dreamed of this moment her whole life. All she can think of is him, her beloved groom. None of the presents matter. Whether he is rich or poor, of high or low status, nothing matters in this moment but him. She is about to be married to the love of her life. Let us wait together for that moment this Sunday at 9am.
