Vegan in San Diego

Dear San Diego Vegan Community, We are sorry to make this announcement but we have decided to postpone San Diego Vegan Festival: April 5, 2020 for the time being. As directed by the state and local government, events with expected attendance over 250 during the month of March are to be postponed or canceled. With our event being just five days beyond that window, we are prioritizing public health until advised that it is safe to hold our event and we can coordinate with more... certainty. We had already planned on skipping our monthly market, First Friday Night Market, for the month of April to allow our team the time and energy to produce San Diego Vegan Festival. At this stage, we are still planning to hold First Friday Night Market on May 1, 2020, but will be on standby to postpone that event if directed to do so by state and local officials. We will keep you all updated as we know more. In the meantime, please take care of yourself and your loved ones.

BLACK LIVES MATTER. This is a vital conversation and we cannot be silent. We need to unite in support of our black friends, loved ones, and family who have been systematically disadvantaged and oppressed for generations. We are committed to advocating against oppression and exploitation. While we have been quiet during quarantine (honestly exhausted from shifting gears from festival planning, to shuttered doors for public health) we will use our platform and spend the foreseeable future lifting black businesses, locals and others who are donating to black organizations and causes. We are also observing #blackouttuesday so this will be our only post today.

We've been so impressed by our local eateries and their ability to adapt to an ever-changing climate for food service. So we decided to adapt too. The www.veganinsandiego.com home page now hosts a living list of vegan eateries open for take out, and other creative solutions for San Diego County businesses to offer you their goods and services. We've also included a growing list of merch and gift card options for folks who are able and want to support businesses today, and r...edeem for a future date. It's a great time to purchase a shirt from our of your faves, too. As a bonus, at the bottom you'll see an excellent list created by our friends at Eater San Diego of vegan-friendly take-out options (vegan and nonvegan eateries), currently more than 70 places! Quick reminder: San Diego Vegan Festival: Postponed set for tomorrow has been postponed until further notice. We wanted to share a little good news though -- we are officially scheduled for 2021. San Diego Vegan Festival is on the books for Sunday, April 11, 2021. Mark your calendars now and we will see you as soon as we can!

Hi friends and community. We wanted to provide an interim update since we are currently receiving a lot of questions. Last night our governor announced the state's suggestion that events with more than 250 attendees be canceled/postponed through the month of March 2020. Our team has been in constant contact evaluating what that means for our San Diego Vegan Festival: April 5, 2020. There are a lot of pieces we need to coordinate so please understand we are taking the next couple days to coordinate. We will provide an update as soon as we can. We appreciate the outpouring of love and concern; it shows you are as excited for our first San Diego Vegan Festival as we are.
