It's the 29th Anniversary of the Sea Lions Arrival at Pier 39 this weekend, January 19-20, 2019! The boisterous barking pinnipeds began arriving in droves shortly after the Loma Prieta earthquake hit San Francisco in October 1989. With a protected environment and plentiful supply of food from the Bay, the sea lions quickly decided to make PIER 39’s K-Dock their new home. A Travel Tip for your trip to San Francisco! Highly recommend using our public transit system, Muni, while traveling through the City! Here are Muni stops around the Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf: The F line historic trolleys stop at the corner of Jones and Beach. These travel along the Embarcadero to the Ferry Building and continue all the way up Market Street where it ends in the Castro. Take the F to catch a BART train to the East Bay or SFO (at the Embarcadero ...Station stop) The E line historic trolleys (also at Jones/Beach) travel along the Embarcadero to AT&T Park and the Caltrain station. The 30 Stockton bus (stop at Columbus and North Point) travels through North Beach, Chinatown, Union Square and ends at the Caltrain station and walking distance to AT&T Park. The 47 Van Ness bus (stop on North Point at Jones) travels up North Point where it turns on Van Ness. Major stops include City Hall, Civic Center, and the Davies Symphony Hall. The end of the line is at Caltrain station. The 28 19th Avenue bus (line begins at North Point and Van Ness) stops at the Golden Gate Bridge as well as Golden Gate Park (along 19th Avenue). The De Young Museum and the California Academy Arts are within walking distance from the Park Presidio Blvd/Fulton Street stop. Other major stops include Stonestown Mall and San Francisco State. The Powell/Hyde Cable Car begins at Hyde and Beach Streets. The last stop is at Powell and Market Streets, near Union Square. The Powell/Mason Cable Car begins at Taylor and Bay Streets. There are many wonderful restaurants in the Fisherman's Wharf neighborhood, steps from the Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf! Altalena Vinoteca opened recently and is located across the street from us. This new wine bar features such fare as flat bread pizza, gourmet deli sandwiches, salads, and cheese and meat boards. There is a Happy Hour every weekday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with half price glasses of wine on all open bottles and $5 pints of beer.
