KITE PARTY 18 UPDATE: Well folks, it's official. The City has just issued a press release with a list of all the postponed events. So sadly I must now say tha...t Kite Party 18 is officially canceled. I will also add that many of the experienced kiters (several are already here) have posted that even if the event was canceled, they would just hang out on the beach and fly kites. So, if you happen to head down to the pier this weekend, and happen to see a bunch of kites flying, please know that it is only regular people having fun flying kites on the beach. Til' next year. KITE PARTY UPDATE: As of now, KITE PARTY 18 is still on, though in light of Mr. Newsoms orders, we will require a minimum of 6ft spacing between people. Also, any spectators that come to watch are also required to maintain that same spacing if you are gathered. The "official" Saturday Night Dinner/Auction (which is really unofficial) is cancelled, HOWEVER, I am hoping that the Kite Party Fliers that are already here and are still planning on attending, DO patronize Coach's for dinner Friday night (as I am planning on doing), and also Surf City Ale House for Saturday night dinner (as I am also planning on doing). I will continue with daily updates. Thank you.

EVENT UPDATE: We are well aware of the many public events being canceled. KITE PARTY 18 is still a go. We understand the apprehension many have about attending a public event. There will simply be a group of folks, about 70ish, hanging out at the beach flying kites. We don't expect a ton of spectators, and that's ok. If you feel healthy, and want to come out and watch some cool stuff, awesome! If not, it is all good. We will be having our Friday night dinner at COACH's, and I'm happy to announce our Saturday night dinner/auction will be held at Surf City Ale House in Downtown HB! Please support this awesome new establishment and its owner, JIM HALL. This guys is pure energy, and the dude was standing outside his place today HIMSELF talking to people, engaging, being awesome!

Hey Folks, Kite Party 18 is happening this weekend, rain or shine. Obviously if it's raining there won't be much if anything up in the air, but since most of the kite fliers are visiting, and will be here anyway, the show WILL go on, and there will be plenty of fun to be had! We ALWAYS find the fun! Many of the kiters only go to one or two events a year, and only get to see each other once a year, HERE, so they are happy to just hang out, catch up, share stories, bust each other's chops, etc. So, if does happen to rain a bit, and you want to stay inside and be depressed, that's cool, we will gladly have enough fun for everyone!!

PSA: KITE PARTY refuses to participate in the overwhelming amount of hysteria and panic created by the Coronavirus, and is not canceling anything. Awesome kites will be the only thing airborne in HB this weekend baby!!

Saturday March 9th, 2019. Arguably the best single line field and sky in Kite Party history. George Halpin, Tony Jetland, Michael Macias, Ron Gibian, Robert Brasington, Alden Miller, the San Diego Kite Club, and others were the stars of the show!
