Our dispatchers handle both police and fire calls and are often the first point of contact with community members. They must be calm in all situations, gather information from the caller and pass along to the proper channels. On a weekly basis, our communication center handles approximately 5,000 calls. This past year, Kelsey Warren, was named Dispatcher of the Year! Kelsey has been with HPD for four years and states her favorite part of the job is, every single day is somet...hing different, I get to work with amazing people and help this wonderful community. We are lucky to have Kelsey on our team! #hellohayward #haywardpd #dispach

It was a Police Pink Patch Project Party! Union City PD hosted neighboring agencies to exchange patches for breast cancer awareness. Officer Mike Wright, Sergeant Tommie Clayton and Lieutenant Antonio Puente met with our colleagues for this fun event. We want to thank our community who have purchased their patches and coins already. There is still time to get one if you haven’t already. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.... #pinkpatchproject #hellohayward #haywardpd

One, two, three and we’re getting more! Earlier this month, a man sporting a satchel and a pair of Crocs was caught on video robbing one of our Hayward neighbors. Our officers were able to get some identifying information about the suspect including where he lives and that he was on parole. Long story short, a judge approved a search warrant and guns were found, along with similar looking Crocs and satchel that were worn by the suspect as seen on the video. One of our Police Service Dogs also located a gun in the suspect’s backyard. We don’t always catch the smart ones but in this case #hellohayward #haywardpd
