A final farewell to a home that would have been the world to a family eagerly awaiting their Habitat home. Over Memorial Day weekend, the construction site was burned by an arsonist. Golden State Construction crews had completed the exterior of the home and had just completed installing windows and doors. Things were shaping up.
A fire destroyed one of our Habitat homes under construction in the River Vista subdivision. On Saturday afternoon neighbors realized the home was ablaze. Fortunately, local fire departments responded quickly and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring homes. There were no injuries. Unfortunately, the home is a total loss. Our Friday Facebook post showed the progress. Golden State Construction, whose crews have been volunteered their labor, had just... finished installing the windows. The home was beautiful and would have shortly provided a lovely refuge for a family in need. Anyone with information about the cause of the fire or the person(s) responsible for starting the fire are encouraged to notify us or law enforcement. We have been encouraged with calls and emails from supporters including Cong. Josh Harder asking how they can help with the clean up and rebuild. See more
