VCLS is looking for notaries public in Ventura County to provide pro bono notarizations of court documents for clients. Our clients are indigent residents of Ventura County who need attorney representation in Ventura County Superior Court. We are looking for a pro bono interpreter to translate our pro bono legal services agreement from English to Spanish. The document is just under 3 full pages in length in 12 pt Arial font. Anyone who can help, please email Christina Vanarelli at [email protected]. Thank you!

Ventura County Legal Services is up and running and we will be filing our first civil litigation case tomorrow - a real estate fraud/elder abuse case on behalf of an indigent Oxnard resident. Next, we will be meeting with another indigent Oxnard resident regarding a habitability issue that is likely going to be litigated. With these cases coming in, we really cannot wait to purchase a case management system. We have selected Pika software, which was built for legal aid organ...izations. It costs $4,960, so we are looking for help to raise that. If anyone can contribute funds toward this purchase, we would very much appreciate those donations, in any amount. We have an immediate need for pro bono Spanish language interpreters to coordinate Client meetings from time to time with non-English speaking Clients, and to interpret for us during those Client meetings. The time commitment could be as little as five minutes, to as much as you want. Today, our CEO, Christina Vanarelli, along with a representative from the California State Bar, spent the entire day at Bet Tzedek in Los Angeles, one of the best run legal aid programs in the country. Bet Tzedek very effectively serves thousands of indigent people in Los Angeles County every year through many innovative delivery channels. Ms. Vanarelli met with several of Bet Tzedek's staff members, including its amazingly impressive CEO, and she also spent about an hour with one of Bet Tzedek's board members. The visit was both educational and inspirational, and from it, VCLS acquired valuable knowledge and tools that we are excited to be bringing into Ventura County. Stay tuned!

Ventura County Legal Services provides free legal representation in Ventura County Superior Court to indigent residents of Ventura County. Today, an indigent senior citizen, who is a resident of Oxnard, engaged us to represent her in a real estate related civil litigation matter. We will file the action with the Court by the end of this week. We are off and running!
