Due to COVID 19, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our annual harvest festival, Pumpkins in the Park, to 2021. However, the health and well-being of our community remains a priority for us. In lieu of our annual harvest festival, we are partnering with County of Santa Clara Public Health Department and Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose to provide a free COVID testing site at the Museum on Saturday, October 10th from 10AM-3PM. No appointment is necessary to be tested. Please wear a mask and be prepared to practice social distancing while in line and inside the testing site. Parking is available at the Woz Way lot across from the Museum. Transit access at the Children's Discovery Museum Station.

#FatBearWeek is a "beary" welcome distraction that begins today, September 30th! There aren't any bears in the Guadalupe River Park, but Lupe the Columbian Mammoth has been looking a little chonky lately. Maybe she can compete next year!

The Guadalupe River Park is an important habitat for many animals, including this juvenile Red Tail Hawk. Our education team, out filming clips for our Distance Learning Field Trips, was lucky enough to spot this raptor chowing down on what we guess was a rat! Hawks and other predators keep the rodent population at healthy levels, ensuring a healthy park ecosystem. Have you seen a bird of prey enjoying or hunting a meal before?

The Coastal Cleanup Day for 2020 looks a little different this year and we are encouraging folks to participate by cleaning up their communities. This September, join your community, in a socially-distanced cleanup in your very own neighborhood and local natural areas every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon to prevent litter from making its way into our waterways. We'll miss hosting a group in the park for this event, but are thrilled it is still happening, and for the entire month! Please register at https://cleanacreek.org/upcoming-events/ to ensure your hours volunteering are accounted for! By registering, you will receive exclusive tips on conducting a safe and effective cleanup.
