Great time to pick up some new reading material and support previous San Diego Touring Pro Roy Barth (great holiday gift idea). Roy grew up in San Diego in the 1950's & 60's where he developed his junior tennis from legendary pros, Wilbur Folsom, Maureen Connolly, and Les Stoefen. He went on to win three national junior doubles titles and received a scholarship to play at UCLA. As a two-time All-American at UCLA he was inducted into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Hal...l of Fame in 2019. He played professional tennis for seven years during which he was ranked 8th in the United Stated in men's singles and two in the United States in men's doubles and 45 in the world in 1969. Roy played in the first 'open' Wimbledon in 1968 when the pros were free to play in Wimbledon for prize money. A lot of his life's journey in tennis was in San Diego as well as throughout Southern California. Roy was inducted into the San Diego Tennis Hall of Fame in 2012. His latest book Point of Impact is about the life and business lessons he learned from his journey in tennis. Roy has a unique perspective on how professional tennis evolved from an amateur sport since he lived it. Point of Impact is now avail on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Point-Impac//0578770237/ref=sr_1_1 and you can learn more about his tennis journey at www.roybarth.com. #sandiegotennis See more

Very nice flashback photo from Angel Lopez with Co-founder of the Tennis Council Ben Press, honoring him this month as he passed in Sept 2016. Here are some kind words Angel shared about Ben: Ben was known as Mr.San Diego Tennis, I was fortunate to have Ben as one of my coaches. He gave me free lessons at the Hotel Del Coronado when he knew my parents could not afford it. I was and will always be grateful for that.He was one of my role models in the tennis teaching profession as I observed as a young player how much volunteer work he did in the San Diego Community. Ben Press will always be remembered and will be missed. His son Paul Press and I are close friends and doubles partners since our teens.I loved Ben Press, so did the San Diego Tennis Community. Thank you for sharing Angel. #sandiego #sdtenniscouncil
