The GEF Mini-Grant Program is back! If you are interested in receiving a grant (up to $300), please submit your application by December 1. GEF encourages innovative and collaborative activities/projects that meet the needs of the whole child, especially during these challenging times. Open to all certificated GSD staff. On Patriots Day, Principal Denise Williams and the Dewey Dolphins remember September 11 first responders as well as first responders who continue to put their lives on the line to help others today. Officer Puente receives a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the San Gabriel Police Department.

On August 21, Bank of America donated 200,000 masks and 60,000 bottles of hand sanitizers, totaling approximately $400,000, to Chinatown Service Center, a nonprofit organization serving low-income immigrants and community members. In turn, Chinatown Service Center provided Garvey School District, and other neighboring school districts (Alhambra Unified School District, Rosemead School District, San Gabriel Unified School District, and San Marino Unified School District) with 100,000 masks and 30,000 bottles of hand sanitizers. Great Work! We did it, Again. The GEF Summer Community Support Campaign has exceeded its goal. Together, we’ve raised over $30k (with $17k in-kind). To date, we’ve distributed over 1,300 food and health baskets to over 125 families, with distribution continuing through August. We want to say THANK YOU from the families. Stay safe and have a happy 4th of July! * GSD employees may join us every Friday morning (8:30 - 11am) at the District Office to distribute family baskets, produce, meat and cheese to families. Distribution resumes on Friday, 7/10. Please come out!

1 more week to top our $25k goal! Since June 1, we have distributed 1,300 food and health baskets. This week, we added 5,000 lbs of meat and cheese to our distribution to 110 families.
