Today is National Special Education Day. It marks the anniversary of our nation's second federal special education law which was signed on December 2, 1975. We are celebrating our special education students, staff and parents this week & highlighting the many aspects of our fabulous programs. Today's theme is Inclusion. New Teacher Spotlight! Every year we welcome new teachers to our district and this fall, we have a total of 15 new teachers across the district to introduce you to. Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ian Kuhn. Ian is a new Chemistry teacher at Truckee High School. What are you most excited about working at TTUSD and working with kids? I’m always excited to see the progression and potential young students have! Being able to facilitate them in their growth is very rewardin...g too! What do you like to do when you're not working (and not in quarantine)? I really enjoy being outdoors in general but snowboarding has been one of my main interests since I was young! #TTUSDpride

Meet our school nurses who help keep our kids safe! TTUSD is fortunate to have three credentialed school nurses who work with parents and staff to help keep our kids healthy and ready to learn, thanks to Measure AA. Having highly-skilled and trained nurses are always important, and even more so as we navigate the additional challenges and safety risks due to COVID-19 This past summer, our nurses have all completed the contact tracing course from John Hopkins Bloomberg School ...of Public Health and they are handling all contact tracing for TTUSD staff and students, should a case of COVID-19 arise. Our nurses are here to help us keep kids safe and we appreciate them! #TTUSDpride
