"Bird Bath" Each morning I sit at a small table in the corner of my kitchen. The window faces a side yard with a hodge-podge of plants and wild flowers. There’s a vine encroaching on everything in its path. It literally swallows other vegetation whole as it twists and wraps everything within reach. I decided a bird bath would be a perfect addition to this Shangri-La. My Leo rising would rather create it than buy it. Never mind the time included in this fiasco would equal payi...ng for a prefab one. First stop thrift shops downtown. With Covid, these stores are only open on weekends. I dawned my scorpionic mask and dove into the fray. Everyone walks around me like I’m a zombie now. Don’t even think about touching any part of my aura! Hell, before this people would literally run their shopping carts up my leg. The smell of the thrift shop waffled through my mask. It’s a combination of perfume, deodorant and sweat. No amount of cleaning could neutralize that sent. My Neptunian intuition said the room in the back might contain parts for my bird bath. I waited patiently as other shoppers rotated unceremoniously through the bins along the wall. My dad’s words often creep in at times like this, things on sale are what other people don’t want. Damn budget NO, I’m having fun, being creative. Imagine how impressed my friends will be when they see my fantastic vision. And then I spotted it. A huge saucer at least 30 across. And heavy. It must weigh 20 lbs. It was cast in a type of plaster with grape clusters and leaf shapes. Wow. The color was sewage brown. Crap. I contemplated. Paint it? Hum $39Hum My devil twin spoke, someone else will buy it, don’t walk away Damn sale bin! Taunting me. It’s been two weeks now, and I’ve decided if it’s still there, it’s meant for me.
