Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Friends of Cats! 2020 has been quite the challenge for all of us. We are so thankful for your kindness, support, and generosity this year to help keep our shelter running smoothly. We hope you are all staying safe and healthy

We have been blown away by your support, friends! For #GivingTuesday, we raised $5,600 in online donations! That was over 5 times our original goal of $1000 - THANK YOU SO MUCH! All of your donations will go directly to the cats, here are a few ways your contributions make a difference! We have 4 kittens that need to be spayed or neutered. Each spay or neuter procedure costs $65 per kitten for a total of $260!... We have diabetic cats that need medication. The insulin costs $190 a month, along with test strips at $75 a month. So $265 a month for those kitties! We have over 270 cats at any given time at the shelter. Just canned food for all the cats, including special diet food is about $1000 a month!

Hello Friends, we have news!! https://www.friendsofcats.org/adoptions/ Adoptions are now available by APPOINTMENT ONLY! Please read, as our protocols have changed...... 1) If you are interested in adopting, visit our website (link above) 2) Click on Adoptable Pets to view some of our current adoptable cats. You need not pick one of the cats prior to your appointment; these are just a few of the kitties available. 3) Click on the Adoption Questionnaire and print. Complete the questionnaire. 4) Email your completed form to [email protected] 5) Once the application is received, a Friends of Cats staff member will contact you by phone for additional questions or to advise you of visit requirements and make an appointment. If you have questions, you can contact the shelter at (619) 561-0361 between the hours of 10am and 4pm, Tuesday through Sunday. NOTE: *The Shelter still remains closed to volunteers and visitors. *Donations of Goods may be left at the front gate, as our cameras show this area. *Relinquishments are by appointment only, as always.

When we name kitties with Mama in front of their name, it means they have had at least one litter of kittens. While the kittens always find homes quickly, the mamas are not always as lucky. Just an exciting update! Friends of Cats received $748.64 from the Clear the Shelters virtual event held in August! This event through NBC and Greater Good matched the donations which we couldn’t appreciate more! As Friends of Cats is a small shelter, this has meaningful impact for us. The donations we received could be used for 2 vials of insulin for diabetic cats, neuters for 14 kittens, or pay for an operation for stomatitis!... Thanks again to those that donated and shared our posts! We appreciate your support!

Hello friends! We want to reassure you all that the shelter is not in danger of the Valley Fire at this time. There was a power outage, but we are back on line. The staff and kitties are fine. The shelter is of course prepared due to the red flag warning. We thank everyone for their concern!

Summertime When temperatures rise, the shelter cats spend most of their time in the secure, outside patio area, enjoying the shade and fresh air! Pictured is Gremlin, lounging in her space outside.
