Fresno ROP celebrated their 31st Advisory Committee Night on February 19, 2021 via Zoom. In addition to pathway advisory meetings, the William F. Noli Awards were presented to individuals or organizations that have demonstrated outstanding service and contributions to Career Technical Education and Fresno ROP programs specifically. Congratulations to our partners in Madera USD's College and Career Readiness Department for their great article in ACTE's Techniques Magazine this month. They are sharing their efforts to create MadTEC (Madera Technical Exploration Center) that is currently under construction. This campus will have six career-themed pathways for eighth grade students in the district to help them bridge their career exploration in elementary school to the career pathways offered at the high school level. Students will attend their home school for a half day and MadTEC for the other half. A great format to assist students in identifying their interests and their strengths!

Fresno ROP joins in on the 2020 World Teachers' Day to thank all the highly qualified professionals dedicated to ensuring students get the best education they have to offer!

Congratulations to Andrew Moreno, ROP Environmental Horticulture instructor at the Alice Worsley School at the Juvenile Justice campus on being selected as as an FCSS "Above and Beyond" award recipient! Although Alice Worlsey staff could not have in-person instruction with their students since mid-March OR that horticulture was not an approved summer program Andrew never wavered from his devotion to his students. Despite being off the clock since May 26, Andrew has continu...ed to work every day to keep the garden at JJC alive and healthy. When asked why, Andrew gave a direct, yet modest response, This garden is for the kids to learn in. If I let it die, what do I have to teach with when we come back? That simple statement is a reminder of Andrew’s commitment to his students. Andrew, you not only provide marketable skills for your students but through your example you teach them to be good men and women. See more

Central HS ROP Automotive instructor Rob Mosier's partnership with Complete Car Care & owner Warren Parr has resulted in being included in the Napa AutoCare Centers Q3 Newsletter. The Visual and Performing Arts department at FCSS, under director Aaron Bryan, and Emmy winning video director Justin Davis have created a great video on how the arts can enhance any career. Congratulations to the winners of the CTE Month-NASA HUNCH Student Video Challenge! The contest was co-sponsored by the Association for Career Technical Education (ACTE) and NASA. Fairmont School in Fresno, CA won for the Most Educational category. Each winning school received a stunning NASA HUNCH plaque with flown International Space Station patch and a check for $250, and each student won a $25 Amazon gift card. https://youtu.be/dKEJvmgOxIo

"The Power of CTE - In Class or Online" is the theme for EFC 2021. The dates are February 28 - March 2, 2021. There will be an EFC conference - we just aren't ...sure what the format will be at this time. As we are all planning how & when to reopen schools this fall, the EFC committee is working with the Sacramento Convention Center, CDE, and conference hotels to determine what our options will be next spring. Depending upon how COVID-19 guidance changes over the coming months, we will adapt the event to fit within safe and healthy meeting protocols. Whether we remain an in-person event, move to a virtual event, or a blended conference, we look forward to providing quality professional development for the CTE community! See more
