Press Release: Felon in Possession of Firearm, Ammunition, and Explosives. On Wednesday, June 2, 2021, a deputy assigned to the Colorado River Station was conducting routine patrol in the unincorporated county area south of Blythe. Near the intersection of 16th Avenue and South Broadway, the deputy noticed a Buick towing a trailer, neither of which had any license plates. The vehicle also did not have a windshield. ... The deputy contacted the driver and sole occupant, Andre Armstrong, age 51, who claimed to be a transient currently living in Blythe. A records check found that Armstrong was a previously convicted felon and the vehicle was not registered in any state. During a search of the vehicle prior to towing, deputies located a loaded handgun and ammunition, as well as several homemade explosive devices. The Sheriff’s Hazardous Device Team (HDT) was contacted and they responded to take possession of the explosives. Armstrong was arrested and booked into the Blythe Jail for Felon in Possession of a Loaded Firearm and Felon in Possession of Ammunition. Additional charges will be filed by the Hazardous Device Team pending their investigation of the explosive devices. Press Release: Felon in Possession of Narcotics (Fentanyl) while Armed. The Colorado River Station Special Enforcement Team (SET) conducted a vehicle stop for a California Vehicle Code violation on S. Neighbours Blvd and 30th Ave, in the unincorporated area of Ripley. A records check revealed, passenger Jose Cardenas (34-year-old resident of Blythe), had outstanding arrest warrants. During a search incident to arrest, Cardenas was found to be in possession of an unregistered ...firearm, Fentanyl pills, and drug paraphernalia. Cardenas is a convicted felon and was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Blythe Jail for the following charges: -Felon in Possession of a Firearm -Possession of High Capacity Magazines -Possession of an Unregistered Firearm -Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl) -Possession of Drug Paraphernalia The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has a zero-tolerance policy for these offenses. Press Release: Felon in Possession of a Stolen Vehicle/Narcotics while Armed. On May 31st, 2021, personnel from the Colorado River Station conducted high-visibility patrol along the Colorado River, in conjunction with the Memorial Day weekend. The area patrolled stretches north to the San Bernardino County line, south to the Imperial County line, and east to the Arizona border.... During the operation, an occupied vehicle check was conducted under the Agnes Wilson bridge east of Hwy. 95. The vehicle was reported stolen by Blythe Police Department. Leonardo Rojas (28-year-old of Blythe) was the driver of the vehicle and in possession of 9.21 grams of methamphetamine, 25.5 Xanax tablets, ammunition, and an unregistered firearm. The stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner. Rojas is a convicted felon and was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Blythe Jail for the following charges: -Possession of a Stolen Vehicle -Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed -Felon in Possession of an Unregistered Firearm -Felon in Possession of Ammunition The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has a zero-tolerance policy for these offenses. Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies have been authorized to wear pink shoulder patches during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Patch collectors and members of the public can also join in! Our Colorado River Station will be selling the patches with all proceeds being donated to Michelle’s Place: a non-profit organization that provides over 10,000 free services each year to individuals and families impacted by cancer. Patches can be purchased at the Colorado River Station, 260 North Spring Street Blythe, CA, Monday thru Friday, 8A-5P, while supplies last. The patches are $10 each (cash only). Today, our very own Deputy Franco stopped and gave a helping hand to a stranded motorist. Deputy Franco helped change a flat tire in the rural desert area of Desert Center, CA. Mid day, 108 degrees, and a mask does not stop the Colorado River Station personnel from displaying our department’s motto of service above self!

On Tuesday, July 14th, about 1500 hours, deputies from the Palo Verde Valley Rural Crime Team were conducting proactive enforcement throughout the valley. During a motorcycle stop of Fausto Loureiro (35 of Blythe, CA), deputies located a loaded firearm, methamphetamine, and several methamphetamine glass pipes. Loureiro also had several outstanding warrants for his arrest and was discovered to be a convicted felon. Loureiro was subsequently booked into the Blythe Jail on multiple felony offenses. The Palo Verde Valley Rural Crime Team is locally dedicated to serve our farming and rural communities and will fully enforce the law to protect our citizens.
