Family Promise of the Verdugos

Sergio, a single father of 4 year old boy named Abel, has been working alongside our Family Promise staff for a few months trying to get back on his feet. Sergio became a single father when Abel’s mom decided she could no longer take care of her son. Sergio and Abel became homeless over one year ago due to lack of financial resources, and began living in a crisis shelter program. Sergio reached out to Family Promise of the Verdugos in hope of finding housing resources for his... family. Family Promise staff immediately assisted this family with housing, personal essentials, and hot meals. We are thrilled to share with you that the family of two signed their apartment lease on Monday, May 3rd! It's Friday afternoon and many of us are heading home... and, we are excited to share that the Campbell Family is heading to their new home tonight, too. Meet the Campbell Family. A single mother and her toddler have been experiencing homelessness for a few months. The mother has gone through such a difficult time after separating from her partner including couch surfing, losing her job, and family have not been supportive. Having been referred to Family Promise by the city w...e helped provide resources to keep her healthy and focused. Today Ms. Campbell signed her first lease on her own and now tonight the family will sleep comfortably. Oh, did we forget to mention Ms. Campbell started a new job this week, too? Meet the Liggoria family: A single mother of two who has been experiencing homelessness for one year. With the pandemic hitting our globe Ms. Liggoria was dealing with depression and anxiety that she would not have the support needed to get back into housing. However, with the support of our Family Promise community we provided her shelter, meals and more; just enough to keep her motivated and certain that a light would be at the end of the tunnel. On January 4th the case managers were able to advocate & secure housing and that day she signed her apartment lease; she's ready to tackle her 2021 goals. Did you know in July 2020 we contracted with the City of Burbank - Government to oversee the Rental Assistance Program? The program was created to provide financial support to households who have been affected by Covid-19 including being laid off, furloughed or reduced hours. Family Promise has provided funding to 120 Burbank households who have been affected by Covid-19. Meet the Wisdom Family! Mom, dad and newborn baby,aka the Wisdom family, became homeless after losing their employment. Not having any family to seek assistance the family began sleeping in their car until they moved into the Family Promise shelter. Working side by side with our team the family was able to SECURE HOUSING LAST FRIDAY thanks to our staff and our #Glendale rapid rehousing funds.
