Over the last year, the Fountain Valley Police Department has experienced some significant changes. There have been numerous promotions within and a new hires to our FVPD Family. The following promotions/new hires occurred between November 4, 2019 and September 24, 2020. Due to COVID-19 constraints, FVPD was unable to conduct a ceremony as the promotions occurred. Our most recent ceremony occurred on October 22, 2020, while in compliance with social distancing and COVID-19 sa...fety protocols; we honored these accomplishments with a formal ceremony for a limited number of friends and families. The Fountain Valley Police Department wishes to congratulate the following personnel: Officer Fermin was hired on March 16, 2020. Officer Shaw was hired July 17, 2017 as a PSO, but began his career as an Officer on March 16, 2020. Officer Bernal was hired on April 6, 2020. Dispatcher Mota was hired on April 6, 2020 Police Services Officer Sage was hired on July 17, 2017 as a Cadet, but was promoted to PSO on July 11, 2020. Cadet Barragan was hired on November 4, 2019. Fountain Valley Police Department 28.10.2020

THEFT BY CARETAKER ARREST On 09/24/20, FVPD Officers responded to the Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, located at 17100 Euclid Street, reference a theft report. The victim, a 77-year-old recent patient of the hospital, stated her credit card was recently stolen and over $1,000 in fraudulent charges were made. FVPD Detectives conducted follow up and identified the suspect as Guadalupe De La Paz, a 48-year-old resident of Fountain Valley. Further follow up revealed De La Paz ...was employed by the Fountain Valley Regional Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant during the time of theft. On 10/14/20, FVPD Detectives contacted De La Paz at her residence where she admitted to the theft and fraudulent use of the victim’s credit card. During a search of De La Paz’s vehicle an additional credit card was located which was determined to be lost property. De La Paz was subsequently booked into the Orange County Jail for theft from elderly dependent adult, burglary, petty theft, and unauthorized use of a credit card. It is unknown if De La Paz is employed at other medical facilities. Possible additional victims of De La Paz are encouraged to contact Detective Marquez. (DR# 20-31619). See more

Fountain Valley Police Department 16.10.2020

ATTEMPT MURDER ARREST On October 15, 2020, an attempted murder occurred in the 10800 block of Ellis Ave, Fountain Valley. The suspect and victim were traveling in a grey Toyota Tacoma when they stopped in a parking lot. The suspect then began to stab victim multiple times, causing life-threatening injuries. The victim was able to escape, and the suspect fled in the truck. Evidence left at the scene allowed Fountain Valley Police Detectives to identify the suspect as Hoang Br...uce Nam Minh Le, a 32-year-old male resident of Anaheim. Investigation also revealed the truck Le was driving was previously stolen in Anaheim and later recovered in Fullerton. The victim is in stable condition and expected to survive. An exhaustive search was conducted for Le; and on October 17, 2020, he was found at his parents’ residence located in the 1800 block of W. Chanticleer Rd. in Anaheim. Le was taken into custody without incident. Le was booked into Orange County Jail on attempted murder charges with a $1,000,000 bail. On October 5, 2020, an iPad was stolen from the Grocery Outlet located at 18920 Brookhurst. A patrol Officer responded, investigated the theft, and obtained video surveillance of the suspect and suspect vehicle. On October 8, 2020, the vigilant store manager of Grocery Outlet saw the suspect’s vehicle and obtained its license plate. The store manager of Grocery Outlet contacted FVPD Detectives and FVPD Detectives conducted follow-up. FVPD Detectives contacted the suspect,... a 46 year old resident of Fountain Valley, and obtained incriminating statements. The suspect relinquished the stolen iPad to Detectives and they were able to return the stolen property to the store manager. This investigation was successful because of the vigilance of the Grocery Outlet management and the responsiveness of the FVPD Officers and Detectives. NARCOTICS ARREST On October 1, 2020, undercover Detectives from the Fountain Valley Police Department Crime Suppression Unit developed information that Jesus Castaneda, a 22-year-old resident of Fullerton, was selling narcotics and firearms. Detectives began surveilling Castaneda’s activities and was subsequently detained in the area of Orangethorpe and Gilbert in the City of Fullerton. Undercover Detectives also conducted a search of Castaneda’s residence. Detectives locate...d $17,000 in cash, a loaded firearm, 540 Xanax (Alprazolam) tablets, 543 grams of molly (MDMA/Ecstasy), and an assortment of cocaine, acid (LSD) and marijuana. Castaneda was arrested on multiple charges including possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a loaded firearm. Castaneda was booked into Orange County Jail.

According to https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org "1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime." ... Although this is alarming, in recent years, there has been a gradual reduction in female breast cancer incidence rates among women aged 50 and older. Death rates from breast cancer have been declining since about 1990, in part due to better screening and early detection, increased awareness, and continually improving treatment options. These pink patches will be available for purchase through 10-31-20 by visiting the front desk of FVPD during regular business hours. NARCOTICS ARREST During the month of September 2020, undercover Detectives from the Fountain Valley Police Department Crime Suppression Unit began investigating John Wallis, a 30-year-old resident of Santa Ana, who was selling narcotics. Wallis was currently on Post Release Community Supervision (Probation) for drug sales. On September 16, 2020, Detectives established surveillance at his apartment complex located in the area of Bear and Macarthur in the City of Santa Ana. Af...ter observing a hand-to-hand drug transaction with the occupants of a vehicle in the parking lot, both Wallis and the occupants of the vehicle were detained. Undercover Detectives conducted a search of Wallis’ residence. Inside the residence Detectives located $7,000.00 in cash, a cumulative total of 12 ounces of heroin and 2 ounces of methamphetamine, and additional evidence of narcotics sales. Wallis was arrested for possession of narcotics with the intent to sell. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested for possession of narcotics. Wallis was booked into Orange County Jail.
