Sunday Apr. 11 was the start of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Dispatchers are the first line of communication when emergencies happen. 911 dispatchers and public safety radio communicators are receiving recognition from police agencies and the community for their work. They’re being recognized this week for their ability to act fast and manage high stress situations. The Fontana School Police Department sends their gratitude to dispatchers across the nation. On March 17, local businesses, Walmart and Lucy's Diner, donated three bikes and three helmets to the Fontana School Police Department. Walmart manager, Alex Salas said he's teaching his daughters (seen in the photo) the importance of giving to the community. In April 2021, these bicycles and helmets will be awarded to FUSD students who have perfect attendance this school year! Thank you @Walmart and @Lucy's Diner!

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), speeding remains the number one factor in more than 25 percent of fatal accidents each year, making it the number one cause of fatal accidents across the nation. This driver was caught traveling 68 on a 40! Slow down!

Today, officers from the Fontana School Police Department visited a FUSD student who recently had his bicycle stolen. Officers were able to provide the FUSD student with a brand new bicycle which was generously donated by the Fontana Foundation of Hope. On November 1, 2020 at approximately 2:00am, Fontana Police Officers responded to the area of Palmetto Ave and the Pacific Electric Trail. Officers located a H...ispanic male subject between the ages of 25 and 35 years old. The subject had a gunshot wound to his chest. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The investigation is ongoing at this time and the identity of the male is unknown. I’ve been shot, send help, radioed an LASD deputy Saturday night after being shot numerous times at point blank range. She and her partner endured collective... gunshots to the face, head, both arms, hand and persevered. After this attempted execution, these heroes had the presence of mind to get out of the car and find cover; radio for help; apply a tourniquet to severe wounds and stand guard until their partners arrived. This is what is called the will to survive. It is a trained mentality to be used in life-saving situations that require extreme mental resilience; when giving up is not an option. These heroes have our outmost respect. We know the days and weeks to come will be difficult, emotional and incredibly painful but please know you have the love and support of so many people.
