ESSENTIALLY US Spotlighting extraordinary individuals in the restaurant industry during these unprecedented times. This idea came to me after an old friend who owns an Italian restaurant shared the story of one of her long time employees. I hope my fellow restaurateurs will take this and run with it each Wednesday so that we can introduce to our customers to some of the hardest working people I know. I hope you enjoy... YELP is reporting that that 60% of the 26,160 temporarily closed restaurants are now permanently CLOSED! Furthermore, while temporary closures are down, permanent shutdowns are up. For those of you who have worked in a restaurant, been part of a family that owns a restaurant, or at the very least enjoys going out to eat, you know how hard most of these people work; Early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays. Most of these individuals continue to sacrifice their own health as well as the health of their families during this pandemic so they can pay rent and provide a good home for all of them. I wanted to spotlight these selfless humans whom WE call family and to highlight them as the invisible heroes they truly are. MEET TYLER. He will be celebrating 1 year here at Vitello’s, having joined us last September. Tyler came to us as a host but always expressed his desire to become part of our bartending team. Happily for both Tyler as well as Vitello’s he does both and exceeds at them daily. His infectious smile brings people to the restaurant as well as to his bar. Born in a small town in the northern part of Virginia, Tyler is 29 and single. He has a girlfriend who has been with for over a year now. On his days off, he loves spending time with his girlfriend exploring the local craft cocktail scene. He relaxes spending his off time doing yoga and playing his guitar. His favorite vacation was to Tuscany and really wants to return to explore more of Italy. He says that New Zealand and South America, specifically Brazil and Peru are high on his list. He smiles when admitting his favorite food is Meatloaf. Least favorite, sushi and thinks he may be the only one in Los Angeles! Tyler says he loves working here because there is so little drama and we are so excited to have him as part of the Vitello’s family
