Good Evening With the current state of things, a lot of our fav local venues are at risk of closing down for good. We’ve had some of our craziest and most emotional shows ever at Queen Bee’s (including our last hometown one)they’re also one of the few venues in our scene that go far out of their way to support and enrich the arts beyond just indie music. On the 15th we’ll be streaming an entire live set from that stage. If u donate while watching u can help keep one of San Diego’s most important spaces for independent artists open and potentially win a #crispy @artesiapro microphone for your home recording needs. Good afternoon! We’ve thought long and hard about how to approach this situation properly and respectfullywe were slated to play an online event next week that, while donating all proceeds to Black Lives Matter and Crew Nation, featured an almost entirely white population of artists. While obviously it’s important rn to be sending funds in the right direction, we recognize going forward it’s also crucial to use our booking clout (for lack of a better phrase) to instead ampli...fy and offer gigging opportunities to BlPOC artists in our scene who are so often glossed over by promoters on the bills we play. We’ve definitely been a huge part of that problem in the past and this is the beginning of a more diligent commitment to using whatever influence we may have to begin building a wider pool of representation in terms of the lineups we play and share our amazing and open-minded audience (y’all) with ppl whose music deserves to be heard. We’ve already spoken to the organizers and offered up some dope artists to take our slot (shout out @yobytterp for expanding that list outside of SD and bringing the issues intrinsic in our involvement to our attention in the first place) however if you are or you know a BIPOC (especially LGBTQ+/femme) artist who would benefit from this opportunity as well pls tag yourself or them below and we’ll make an addendum to said list!
