Did you know that 12 species of lizards and 19 species of snakes can be found on FLC preserves?! Check out this cool field guide to the reptiles and amphibians of the FLC created by Jeff Norland, a volunteer from the Southwestern Field Herping Association: https://8c9229d4-10dc-4a24-85eb-e0e1353686cf.filesusr.com/ Much more info on the plants and animals of the FLC can be found at https://www.fallbrooklandconservancy.org/native-plants-anim

Congratulations to Jean Dooley, the FLC Gem of a Volunteer 2020 award winner! Jean has been a dedicated volunteer for many years, helping to plan and lead the Save Our Forest Environmental Education Program, cleaning up litter on the Pico Promenade weekly, attending monthly tree maintenance work parties and so much more. She is a joy to have as part of our organization and we are grateful for her service and support.

Don’t miss Herps for the Holidays! In lieu of our traditional year-end member event, we invite you to gather with us virtually to learn about the reptiles and amphibians that call FLC preserves home. Jeff Nordland of the Southwestern Field Herping Association, who has presented his captive herps at Stagecoach Sunday in past years, will share his wealth of knowledge about species he has encountered at our preserves. Please RSVP to [email protected] or 760-728-0889 and you will be emailed the Zoom link and instructions on how to log on. Not a FLC member? Join today! https://www.fallbrooklandconservancy.org/become-a-member

Thank you to the folks who came out this morning to the MMP Volunteer Day, including Jean & Jim Dooley, and the Scouts and Dads from BSA Troop 731! We worked on smoothing out the new rolling dips designed to catch rainwater runoff and prevent erosion. This will keep the trail tread in place and protect wildlife habitat and water quality downstream. Next volunteer opportunity on MMP is Saturday, Jan 2, 2021 - come give us a hand!
