Too bad there aren't many swimming pools today in the Arden Arcade area.

Today, says Wielgus, "Swimming is often viewed as a white, suburban sport, much as golf is. It's not that urban kids or African-American kids aren't interested in swimming, it's that so many of them don't have the opportunity."

Because many people of color don't know how to swim, they don't teach their kids. Make Swimming a PE Educational Standard and teach all kids to swim by age 6.

Wouldn't it be great if $ were sent to communities that really need expensive luxurious aquatic centers--like the ones in Elk Grove, Roseville and now, North Natomas.
