The Elk Grove City Council adopted an ordinance at their last meeting that extends Planning approvals for conditional use permits, minor deviations, variances, and design review from three years to four years. These changes will offer more flexibility to developers and businesses interested in developing in the City despite these challenging economic times. As the days get shorter and it's darker earlier, the Elk Grove Police Department has put together a short video to share some simple pedestrian safety tips.

The Elk Grove Homeless Assistance Resource Team (EG HART) is operating a Winter Shelter in Place (WINSIP) program to respond to and prevent the spread of COVID-19 among Elk Grove’s residents who are experiencing homelessness. Volunteers are delivering meals and necessities to those experiencing homelessness each week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In addition to food, EG HART is distributing many other items to help them get through the coldest months of the year. Elk Grove’s Thanksgiving Day race has gone virtual! Participants will run their own course, outside or on a treadmill, in support of Chicks in Crisis. All event proceeds benefit this Elk Grove non-profit that offers pregnancy, parenting, adoption, and educational services. It was announced last week that the City of Elk Grove has joined a group of more than 20 jurisdictions, non-profit organizations, and industry representatives to form the Cool Roadways Partnership to accelerate the development and installation of pavements and pavement products that reduce surface and air temperatures and build resilience to rising heat. The Partnership will work on expanding the number and variety of cool roadway innovations available nationally.
